Just some fun teaching stuff....

August 20, 2013 08:17

Happy things from this week's lessons so far:

My students enjoying my new prize-box (I got sick of candy, and usually hold off on prizes for bigger accomplishments anyway, so stocked up on some fun items like bendy music pencils, bookmarks, decaf coffee/tea/hot chocolate, baseball cards...we are loving it! What do you put in your prize box?)

Plotlining George Perlman's Concertino in a minor (the one in the Avsharian "Fun with Solos" book)--it is now a spy story with a love story in the middle, and the bad guys win at the end. My student who never likes any of his music now is totally pumped about this one :)

Student working on intonation decides, totally out of the blue/without my prompting, to solfege his way through his piece. Literally singing aloud all the way up to the high A! All the pitches he "couldn't hear" before, he nailed. I was blown away.

Love my job :)
