Semi-finalists Announced in 2023 Sphinx Competition

November 16, 2022, 3:24 PM · Semi-finalists have been announced this week in the Sphinx Competition 2023, which will take place in Detroit, Mich. January 26-28, 2023.

The Sphinx Competition is a national competition in the U.S. for Black and Latinx classical string players. Finalists in both divisions have the opportunity to perform with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra and compete for $100,000 in prizes, including the top Robert F. Smith Prize.

The jury for the 2023 competition includes Zuill Bailey, Joseph Conyers, Juan-Miguel Hernandez, Patrice Jackson, Jennifer Koh, Michael Kondziolka and Erik Ronmark.
