It’s time to annotate one of my 2006 calendars with information on tickets I’ve already purchased. Here is what I’ve got.
Feb. 26. Gil Shaham directing the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and playing violin. Program: Arensky: Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky, Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5(“Turkish”), and Tchaikovsky: Souvenir de Florence
Feb. 24. Marian McPartland with her trio
April 4. Yo-Yo Ma. Program: Bach Cello Suites 3, 5, and 6. (I have these on his CD, but I’d get up from my deathbed to hear him play them in person.)
April 24. Itzhak Perlman (violin) and Pinchas Zukerman (violin/viola). Program: Bach: Sonata for Two Violins and Continuo, Mozart: Duo for Violin and Viola in G Major, K. 423, Leclair: Sonata for Two Violins in F Major, Op. 3, No. 4 , and Moszkowski: Suite for Two Violins and Piano in G minor, Op. 71. (I have a CD made long ago with Perlman and Zukerman playing the Mozart and the Leclair, but I’d get up from my deathbed to hear them play these in person, too.)
