Competitions:
By the age of 30, had won more Gold Medals and First Place awards in international instrument making competitions than any maker living today, and any maker in history.

"Hors Concours" in the International Competitions of the Violin Society of America. (barred from competing since 1982 by virtue of acknowledged excellence)

"Hors Concours" in the AFVBM instrument making competitions.

Masters certification in "violin making".

Restoration:
Former restorer in the Hans Weisshaar shop, and a teacher and program director in the Oberlin College/VSA series of instrument technical workshops.

Other:
Has served as a judge for the Cremona instrument making competition in Cremona Italy; for the Violin Society of America competitions; the China International Violin Making Competition; the Moscow competition.

Member and former board member of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers (the US professional group for violin and bow makers)

Member of the Entente Internationale De Maitres Luthiers Et Archetiers D'art (the international professional group for violin and bow makers).
